PIPE ORGANS OF UTAH
While Utah probably has more church
buildings per capita than any other state in the Intermountain West region of
the United States, it has relatively few significant pipe organs. There are two
reasons for this phenomenon:
- A large percentage of church buildings in Utah utilize
pipeless electronic instruments, and
- Those church buildings which do have pipe organs
generally have small instruments of nine or fewer ranks.
Consequently, the following listing is not by any means
exhaustive, but includes instruments with which the author is familiar and which
he feels to be noteworthy due to quality, uniqueness, or size. Those wishing to
make additions or corrections to this list are encouraged to do so by contacting
the author.
